Dimitrios Diamantakos takes East Bengal ahead. A brilliant left footer from the inside the left side of the box and he is able to beat the Punjab goalkeeper Kumar. Outstanding start for East Bengal and Punjab will now be under pressure.

21' Diamantakos hits the post this time. East Bengal were so close to double the lead but the post denies them. It was yet again Diamantakos who could have scored his second but his close range attempt smashes into the post.

30' Players head for drinks after an exciting half an hour of football. East Bengal have the lead but Punjab too have looked good so far. In fact, Punjab have controlled the ball far more than East Bengal.

37' Messi Bouli's header misses the goal. Punjab conceded a free kick with a foul which saw Ivan Novoselec being shown the yellow card. That helped East Bengal make this attack but Bouli could not keep the header on target.

45' Messi Bouli with a cross and Dimitrios Diamantakos with his left footer but Punjab defence stands tall to make a crucial save just at the stroke of half-time.

An exciting first 45 minutes of football. Diamantakos yet again rose up to the ocassion for East Bengal and handed them the lead as early as 15th minute. It has been a good back and forth since then but no side has been able to score post that. Punjab desperately need the equaliser.

Second half begins. East Bengal are leading thanks to Diamantakos but Punjab would be eager to cut down the difference.

Mahesh Naroen doubles East Bengal's lead with a brilliant left-footed shot from the middle of the box. They were creating pressure and finally Punjab FC defence has cracked.

54' GOAL for East Bengal!!!

Lal Chungnunga slots in a powerful right-footed shot to the bottom left corner to net his second goal of the season and East Bengal just keep scoring. Punjab's defence in total disarray.

62' GOAL for Punjab FC!!!

This has been a half of goals and Punjab finally get their first one. A glimmer of hope arises for the Shers. Ezequiel Vida shoots it from outside the box and finds the net. Petros Giakoumakis with the assist and Punjab fans have something to cheer for.

75' Punjab FC are trying hard but the attacks are losing teeth around the box. They are still trailing by two goals but one goal for the Shers here will put East Bengal under some real pressure.

81' So, Dimitrios Diamantakos now goes off field. He opened the gates for East Bengal today. Another good outing for him. David Lalhlansanga now comes as the substitute.

Punjab tried hard in the last few minutes but East Bengal managed to dodge the attacks and clinch a victory.

East Bengal earn a dominating 3-1 win. The match was another good duel but East Bengal managed to execute their attacks far better than Punjab FC. The Shers continued to control the ball for longer periods but their finishing was not as good and the defence too was porous.

Both teams now have identical record in the league. Seven wins, three draws and 11 defeats. East Bengal have now climbed ahead of Punjab FC at the 10th spot in the standings.
