The FIDE World Junior Under-20 Chess Championships 2025 will take place from February 23 to March 8, 2025 in Petrovac, Montenegro. ()
The championship will be held in two categories: Open (formerly boys) and Girls, each following an 11-round Swiss-system format.
The time control for the games is set to be 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with a 30-second increment per move starting from move one.
All the members of the FIDE federations are invited to participate in the World Junior U20 Chess Championship 2025.
Each national federation is invited to register one player born on or after January 1, 2005, for each category. Additional players may also be registered beyond the invited ones.
Players with personal rights, such as the top three finishers from the previous edition and continental junior champions from the preceding year, are accepted as invited players.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, first round of the championship has been postponed to Tuesday, February 25th.

India is fielding a strong contingent in both the Open and Girls' sections. In the Open Section, 12 players will represent India, with Grandmaster (GM) G. Pranav leading as the second seed.
