Woods announced the injury on social media, describing the operation as minimally invasive.
While Woods did not mention a timeline for his return to golf, his participation in the Masters on April 10-13 is highly unlikely.
“As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,” Woods said in his statement.
Woods’ surgeon added that the operation went well and that he expects Woods to make a full recovery.
Woods, 49, ruptured his right Achilles in 2008 and has undergone various other surgeries for knee and back issues.
Despite the injury history, Woods has made the cut at the Masters a record 24 times.
Woods last played against top competition in last year라이브 바카라 Open Championship. Since then, he has only participated in the 36-hole PNC Championship with his son, Charlie, and on his TGL indoor circuit.
