The preparations for the 18th season of the IPL is going on and a captains' meeting was held in Mumbai where ban on the usage of saliva was lifted by BCCI for the IPL matches. Rajasthan Royals appointed Riyan Parag their captain for the first three matches due to Sanju Samson's finger injury. Former sports minister Anurag Thakur's bid to contest the Boxing Federation of India's presidential election was brought back on track after the Himachal Pradesh High Court stayed his disqualification from the Electoral College and directed the BFI to extend the date of nominations to enable his candidature.

Thakur, who is also a Lok Sabha MP from Hamirpur, was declared ineligible in a March 7 notification by BFI President Ajay Singh. The reason cited was that he was not an elected member of the Himachal Pradesh Boxing Association, which he was seeking to represent in the EC. (PTI)

The BCCI on Thursday lifted the ban on use of saliva on the ball in the upcoming Indian Premier League after majority of captains agreed to its proposal. The decision was taken at the captains' meeting in Mumbai.

"The saliva ban has been lifted. Majority of captains were in favour of the move," a top BCCI official told PTI.

The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) is set to move the National camp for men and women to Pune and Gandhinagar respectively, saying it was time to take the sport to other regions and curb incidents of "indiscipline". The National camps have been on hold since January 2023 when the country's top wrestlers led a protest against the then WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who they accused of sexual harassment of women players.
