Pakistan star Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor's much-anticipated romantic comedy is titled Abir Gulaal. The makers, on Tuesday, announced the release date and unveiled a heartwarming teaser.
Sharing the teaser of Abir Gulaal, Vaani wrote, “The wait is over! Bringing love back to the big screen with Abir Gulaal and @fawadkhan81. A Richer lens film @aricherlens. See you in the cinemas on 9th May!"
The 1-minute, 2-second teaser begins with the question, “When was the last time you fell in love?”. It then shows Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor sitting inside a car as they enjoy a rainy evening. Fawad sings Kumar Sanu라이브 바카라 iconic love song Kuchh Na Kaho from Anil Kapoor and Manisha Koirala starrer 1942: A Love Story (1979). After he finishes crooning, Vaani asks, "Are you flirting with me?" to which Fawad replies, "Do you want me to?"
The video ends with the text, "Bringing love back."

Abir Gulaal is directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Indian Stories and A Richer Lens in association with Aarjay Pictures. Vivek B Agrawal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy are the producers. The film marks Fawad and Vaani's film collaboration together and it promises to be a delightful romantic comedy filled with sparkling chemistry, unexpected turns, tender moments, and pure magic.
It is all set to hit the theatres worldwide on May 9, 2025.

For the unversed, since 2016, there has been a unofficial ban on Pakistani artists working in India following political disputes between the two countries after the Uri terror attack. The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) took a resolution that they won't work with Pakistani artists after they cited “security” and “patriotism”.
In 2023, the Bombay High Court dismissed a petition seeking to officially ban Pakistani artists from working in India. The court had said, “Arts, music, sports, culture, dance, and so on are the activities which rise above nationalities, cultures, and nations and truly bring about peace, tranquility, unity, and harmony in nation and between nations''.
