Manoj Kumar Dies At 87: Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, And Others Pay Tribute To Legendary Actor

Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away on April 4. He was 87. As reported by news agency ANI, the actor died at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Mumbai. Mr Kumar's son Kunal Goswami, confirmed the news of his death to the agency. His cremation will take place on Saturday, April 5.

Several Bollywood celebs including Akshay Kumar, Aamir Khan, Vivek Agnihotri, and others mourned the death of Manoj Kumar. Fondly called the 'Bharat Kumar' of Hindi cinema, the actor is remembered for the legacy he left in the Indian cinema with his iconic and patriotic films.

Celebs Pay Tributes To Manoj Kumar

Akshay Kumar paid his tribute to the late actor on X. In his eulogy, he wrote, "I grew up learning from him that there라이브 바카라 no emotion like love and pride for our country. And if we actors won’t take the lead in showing this emotion, who will? Such a fine person, and one of the biggest assets of our fraternity. RIP Manoj Sir. Om Shanti (sic)."

Aamir Khan also offered his deepest condolences to Manoj Kumar. In a statement, he shared, ''Manoj Kumar was not just an actor, and film-maker, he was an institution. I have learnt so much watching his films.

His films were often based on important social themes which brought him really close to the common man.

My heartfelt condolences to his family 🙏🏽''.

Vivek Agnihotri shared a heartwarming note to pay tribute to Manoj Kumar. He wrote, “India라이브 바카라 first truly original and committed Indic filmmaker, Dadasaheb Phalke awardee Shri Manoj Kumar ji, left us today.'' He called him a ''proud nationalist, a staunch Hindu at heart and a visionary director who gave Indian cinema a new grammar — of song picturisation, of meaningful lyrics, of cinema that didn’t just entertain but remembered to belong.''

''He made patriotism cinematic, without noise. He made nationalism poetic, without apology. In a time of borrowed voices and secondhand aesthetics, he dared to be rooted.Patriots and artists like him never die. They simply transcend — into memory, into celluloid, into the nation라이브 바카라 heartbeat (sic),'' he wrote further.

''With the loss of Manoj Kumar Sahab, we bid farewell to a pillar of Hindi cinema. His art celebrated the spirit of India like no other. Deepest condolences to his family and countless admirers. #ManojKumar (sic),'' wrote Manoj Bajpayee mourning Manoj Kumar's death.

Filmmaker Karan Johar wrote, “Today we lost a Hindi cinema legend… Shri Manoj Kumar… It took me back to a screening of Kranti I saw as a child… sitting excitedly on the floor with other kids and a packed screening room of filmmakers and actors and industry giants… this was a ROUGH CUT of the film… a 4 hour long version… Manoj ji was sharing his film at such an early stage seeking feedback… seeking opinions for his ambitious motion picture… the film went on to create history at the box office…"

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is also saddened by the passing of the legendary actor and filmmaker. Sharing a few pictures with the veteran actor, Bhandarkar wrote, ''I had the privilege of interacting with him at many occasions , and he was truly an icon of Indian cinema. His storytelling & song picturizations in his films inspired national pride and will resonate for generations. My deepest condolences to his family members & admirers. #OmShanti''.

Khushbu Sundar is also extremely saddened. She wrote, ''He will eternally be remembered as Mr. Bharat for always reminding us about roti, kapada aur kisaan. Our integrity and patriotism. Our culture and our roots. You will be missed sorely Sir. Rest in peace (sic).”

Manoj Kumar Death Reason

As reported by ANI, according to medical reports, the cause of Manoj Kumar's death was identified as cardiogenic shock due to acute myocardial infarction, a severe heart attack. The reports also confirmed that the actor had been battling decompensated liver cirrhosis for the past few months, which further deteriorated his health.

Mr Kumar was admitted to the hospital on February 21, 2025, after his condition worsened.

Manoj Kumar Last Rites

Manoj Kumar's son Kunal Goswami confirmed to ANI that the last rites will take place tomorrow.

Reportedly, his mortal remains will be kept at his Juhu residence from Friday afternoon so that his industry colleagues and fans can pay their last respects to the 'Bharat Kumar' of Hindi cinema.

Born as Harikrishnan Giri Goswami on July 24, 1937, Manoj Kumar's contribution to Hindi cinema is immense. His iconic films include Shaheed, Upkar, Purab Aur Pachhim, Kranti, and Rang De Basanti among others.
