Director Payal Kapadia has been honoured with the prestigious French civilian honour, Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters) on Wednesday, April 23, in Mumbai, for her contribution to cinema.
Payal's directorial debut All We Imagine as Light, an Indo-French co-production, received the prestigious Grand Prix award at the Cannes Film Festival last year.
As per a report in PTI, Payal Kapadia was conferred with the award by Jean-Marc Sere-Charlet, Consul General of France in Mumbai, on behalf of the French government.
She was recognised for “her outstanding achievements in the field of cinema, her commitment to showcasing the unique voices in India internationally, and her contribution to the cultural relationship between France and India”, stated a press release.
On receiving the honour, Kapadia said, ''It is an honour and privilege to be conferred with the distinction of Officer of Arts and Letters. I am also very thankful for the French Government라이브 바카라 dedicated support towards independent cinema all over the world''.
At the event, Sere-Charlet said, “I am delighted to confer the distinction of Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres on Payal, whose journey illustrates the power of cinema to transcend borders, break down barriers, and create understanding.''

The Officier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres is among France라이브 바카라 highest honours and is awarded to those who have done remarkable contributions to the fields of art and literature.
All We Imagine as Light bagged several awards- the Best International Feature trophy at the prestigious Gotham Awards 2024, top honour at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) 2024 and the Best Film at the Asian Film Awards 2025.
It starred Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, Chhaya Kadam, Hridhu Haroon, and Azees Nedumangad in key roles.
