Malayalam film and television actor Vishnu Prasad breathed his last on Thursday night, May 1, at a private hospital in Kochi, as per reports. He was undergoing treatment for severe liver cirrhosis at the hospital. The actor had been in critical care for several days.
Reports claim that his family was in the process of arranging a liver transplant, and his daughter was supposed to be the donor.
The news of Vishnu Prasad's demise was shared by his friend Kishore Sathya through a Facebook post on Friday morning. He offered condolences to the bereaved family.
Reportedly, Rs 30 lakh was needed for the surgery but his family was facing challenges in raising the amount. The Association of Television Media Artistes (ATMA) came forward to help fund Vishnu Prasad's treatment.

Vishnu Prasad was a versatile actor who was known for his roles in Malayalam movies like Runway, Mampazhakkalam, Kasi, Kai Ethum Doorathu, Lokanathan IAS, and Pathaka, among others. He also played various characters on television.
Vishnu Prasad is survived by his two daughters, Abhirami and Ananika.
