At least six feared dead as tourist submarine sinks in Egypt's Red Sea. As per BBC, several people have been injured and 29 others rescued after the incident off the Egyptian city of Hurghada early on March 27.

Around 40 passengers were on board the submarine, and all are believed to be Russian, according to Moscow's embassy in Egypt. The boat, called Sindbad, sank close to the harbour, BBC reported.

The local governorate's office in Hurghada told Reuters that six foreigners, whose nationalities are unknown, were killed in the Red Sea submarine incident.

Russian embassy in Egypt said that all tourists on submarine were Russia. In a post on Facebook, it said 45 passengers were on the vessel, including children. The post adds that four people have died, and they are waiting for information on several more passengers.

The incident happened at around 10:00 local time, around 0.6m (1km) from the shore, the post said.

This is not the first incident involving tourist boats in Hurghada and Red Sea. In November 2024, a tourist boat called the Sea Story sank, leaving 11 dead or missing - including a British couple - and 35 survivors.

At the time, Egyptian authorities attributed the disaster to a huge wave of up to 4metres.
