Russian forces launched a large-scale drone assault on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, killing three people—including a child—and injuring dozens, officials said Thursday. The strike is part of an escalating wave of attacks on civilian areas, amid ongoing U.S.-led efforts to broker a ceasefire.
According to Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional administration, 30 people, including five children, were wounded in the attack. Local authorities reported extensive damage to civilian infrastructure, including a school, dormitory, gymnasium, and several residential buildings. The Emergency Service said the strikes sparked multiple fires across the city.
In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy renewed calls for increased air defense support from international allies.
“Every defense package from partners for Ukraine now, every form of support from the world for our resilience, is literally protecting lives,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram. “Russia uses every day and every night to kill."
Meanwhile, a Ukrainian delegation, including Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, is in Paris for bilateral and multilateral talks with members of the so-called “coalition of the willing,” including France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. According to Presidential Office Head Andrii Yermak, the coalition aims to establish a long-term security framework for Ukraine post-ceasefire. Talks with U.S. officials are also on the agenda.
“We are working on important aspects for the security of Ukraine and all of Europe,” Yermak said on Telegram.
