Pope Francis, history's first Latin American pontiff, died at 88 on April 21, weeks after he was hospitalised due to respiratory problems.
The Vatican announced that Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, will preside over the rite of the ascertainment of death of Pope Francis and placement of his body in the coffin on Monday evening.
Pope Francis had earlier expressed that he wants to be buried in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, which makes him the first Pope in the last 100 years to be buried outside of Vatican.
In traditional customs, following the death of a pope, the Church observes a nine-day mourning period.
The Vatican has stated that the rite will take place in the Chapel of the Vatican라이브 바카라 Casa Santa Marta at 8:00 PM (GMT +2) on April 21.
The Holy See Press Office reportedly indicated that those present will include the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, and family members of the late Pope Francis, along with Dr. Andrea Arcangeli and Dr. Luigi Carbone, the Director and Deputy Director of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene, respectively.
"Separately, the Press Office announced that the canonization Mass for Blessed Carlo Acutis has been temporarily suspended due to the death of Pope Francis", announced Vatican.
The Eucharistic celebration and canonization rite had been scheduled for Sunday, April 27, on the Second Sunday of Easter, also celebrated as Divine Mercy Sunday.
The Funeral Of The Pope Observes 3 Stages
According to a CBC report, the funeral rites take place in three parts, called stations.
The first station is when the medical professionals declare his death inside the pope's private chapel.
The Cardinal who serves as the Pope's camerlengo or the chief of staff makes arrangements of the funeral and is also tasted to run the Vatican until a new pope is elected.
As per reports, the deceased pope will be dressed in his simple white cassock and red vestments, then placed in a wooden coffin. Then the coffin is taken to St. Peter's Basilica and the open casket is allowed for public viewing which makes it the second stage of the funeral.
After the public viewing, a white cloth is laid above the body and papal funerals are continued.
The third and the last stage of the funeral is the burial.
