U.S. President Donald Trump has denied that he is considering running for a third term in office, stating in a new interview that he remains committed to the constitutional two-term limit for presidents.
"I'll be an eight-year president, I'll be a two-term president. I always thought that was very important," Trump said during an interview with NBC라이브 바카라 Meet the Press, set to air Sunday. The comments come amid renewed speculation following the sale of “Trump 2028” merchandise by his company and his own history of flirtatious remarks about extending his time in office.
Trump has previously stated that he was “not joking” about the idea of a third or even fourth term. However, he later claimed those remarks were made to provoke the media, which he often derides as “fake news.”
The U.S. Constitution, through the 22nd Amendment, clearly prohibits any individual from being elected president more than twice. Amending the Constitution to change that would require a two-thirds majority in both houses of Congress and ratification by three-quarters of U.S. states — a political near-impossibility in the current climate.
Nonetheless, some of Trump라이브 바카라 supporters have circulated theories suggesting legal loopholes could allow a third term, although such interpretations have never been tested in court.
Asked whether anyone has formally approached him with these ideas, Trump sidestepped the question, saying, “In a capacity of being a big supporter, many people have said different things.”
He acknowledged receiving “many requests” from people urging him to stay beyond a second term but said he does not intend to pursue that path. “But this is not something I’m looking to do,” Trump said, noting that he sees potential successors within his own administration, including Vice-President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“I think four years is plenty of time to do something really spectacular,” he added, referring to his current second term, which began in January 2025.
The interview also touched on the economy, with Trump brushing off criticism over a recent contraction. “Everything라이브 바카라 OK,” he said, characterizing the downturn as a temporary adjustment caused by his new tariff policies. “This is a transition period. I think we’re going to do fantastically.”
When asked whether he expected the economy to continue shrinking, Trump responded: “Anything can happen. But I think we’re going to have the greatest economy in the history of our country.”
