After Deputy CM Eknath Shinde refuted rumours within the Mahayuti Alliance, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also denied speculation about a rift in the ruling alliance.

Speaking to media reporters, the Maharashtra CM and BJP leader said - "There is no Cold War among ruling allies. Both myself and Eknath Shinde know what we do when we are together... We have successfully fought the Opposition and got a landslide victory in the Assembly."

This press conference took place after a Cabinet meeting was boycotted by the opposition MVA alliance.

"Today we had invited the opposition for 'Chahapan' (snack meeting before the budget session) but they boycotted it. They held a meeting in which none of their big leaders came. They have given us a 9-page letter in which there are names of nine people, there are signatures of seven people and in that letter, they have raised issues which they have only taken from the press," said Fadnavis.

Last week, reports of a rift within the Mahayuti alliance surfaced after headlines stated that Shinde was still unhappy about stepping down from the top post for Fadnavis.

Additionally, the scaling down of security for several Shinde leaders reportedly added to the friction.

However, denying all rumours, Eknath Shinde said - "No matter how much breaking news you give, we (Mahayuti) will not break. What is the cold war? There is nothing like that. In this scorching heat of Maharashtra... how is a cold war possible?"

The Mahayuti alliance, led by BJP, witnessed a landslide victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections in 2024.
