The Bharat Rahstra Samiti (BRS) has strongly criticized the Congress-led Telangana government over its financial management, questioning its expenditure priorities amid an alleged revenue shortfall of Rs. 71,000 crore.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recently admitted that the government was struggling to pay salaries and dearness allowance(DA) and was short of funds for capital expenditure in view of hosting the Miss World beauty pageant In Telangana.

BRS leader KT Rama Rao lambasted the state government's decision on microblogging website X, allocating Rs 200 crore for hosting the Miss World beauty pageant amidst a severe financial crunch.
"Apparently spending ₹46 Crore for Formula - E race in Hyderabad was wrong & will attract cases being filed But spending ₹200 Crores of public money to conduct Miss World, a beauty contest is right !! What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain Ji ?," he said.
He further wrote on Monday, "The Congress government wants us to believe all is well in Telangana... If that is true, why did the Chief Minister suddenly confess yesterday that there is negative growth... and a deficit of Rs 71,000 crore? Is Telangana rising or falling?"
These concerns led to a dramatic protest during the state assembly session on Tuesday, with several BRS MPs carrying handfuls of dried crop pieces to highlight the claim that the drought was caused by the Congress, an NDTV report said.
The BRS has been vocal about its disapproval of the Congress government's financial management, claiming that it's misusing state funds to fulfill promises made during the 2023 election campaign.
Specifically, they've criticized the government for borrowing a whopping Rs 1.52 lakh crore without delivering on welfare schemes and other promises.
