A third-year student at IIT Kharagpur - Mohammad Asif Qamar - was found dead in his hostel room on Sunday. Police said that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide.
His body was found hanging in his hostel room in Madanmohan Malviya Hall in IIT Kharagpur campus, PTI reported.
The students reportedly self harmed while on a video call with a Delhi-based girl, The Times of India reported. On Sunday at 2:53 AM, IIT's security officer received a call about Qamar라이브 바카라 attempted self harm and by 3:30 AM, police had rushed to his hostel room. They took him to BC Roy Hospital on campus, where he was declared dead. Qamar라이브 바카라 roommate was off campus on leave.
The girl reportedly told the IIT security officer that the student died in front of her over the video screen. She found the security number from the college라이브 바카라 website, an unnamed source told TOI.
Qamar - a 2022 batch B-tech student from Seohar district in Bihar - had an exam malpractice case against him in 2024. He was consequently deregistered for the course, which he retook in the following semester. According to media reports, he was improving in his studies and was supposed to visit his home on Sunday.
"We have not found any history of mental health issues, medical treatment, or visits to the IIT counselling centre,” a senior official told TOI.
"It is with deep sadness that the IIT Kharagpur condoles the untimely demise of Md Asif Qamar a third year under graduate student in the department of civil engineering at around 2:53 am on May 4." the institute said in a statement. "A call came at the security emergency number from an external source that Md Asif Qamar has committed self-harm. The security response team rushed immediately to the Pt M M M Hall of Residence (Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Hall) where the student was found dead in his room."
On May 2, a 20-year-old student of BITS Pilani's Goa campus was found hanging in his hostel room, in what the police suspect is a case of suicide.
