India has approached the United Nations (UN) in an attempt to get The Resistance Front (TRF), the outfit suspected of carrying out the Pahalgam attack, labelled as a terrorist group, The Indian Express reported.
This marks the first time that India has brought TRF with the UN and its anti-terror bodies since Operation Sindoor.
“An Indian technical team is in New York. They are interacting today with the Monitoring Team of the 1267 Sanctions Committee and other partner countries in the UN. They will also be meeting with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED),” the unnamed source told the newspaper.
India - including Vikram Misri, Foreign Secretary of India - has mentioned previously that the TRF were behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. They have said the group is a “known front” for Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Pakistan had gotten TRF라이브 바카라 name scratched from the April 25 Security Council statement on the terror attack. India has repeatedly referred to the Security Council라이브 바카라 April 25 statement that talks of “the need to hold perpetrators, organisers, financiers and sponsors” accountable and that India라이브 바카라 retaliation should be measured in this context, according to The Indian Express.
TRF through a social media post had claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack - once on the same day of the April 22 attack and then on April 23.
TRF however rescinded the claim - which Misri stated only happened once the outfit라이브 바카라 leaders realised the intensity of the attack, The Indian Express reported. “Obviously that retraction doesn’t convince anybody,” Misri added.
India in the past gave information about TRF in the half-yearly report to the Monitoring Team of the UN라이브 바카라 1267 Sanctions Committee in May and November 2024. In December 2023, India had mentioned the LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad function through small groups like the TRF, as per The Indian Express.
