A mild earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck eastern Nepal on Wednesday evening, amid heightened seismic activity in the region, PTI reported.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the quake occurred at 6:11 PM local time, with its epicenter in the Chheskam area of Solukhumbu district, located in Nepal's eastern Himalayan region.
Tremors were felt in the capital, Kathmandu, as well as in several neighbouring districts. However, authorities confirmed that there were no immediate reports of damage to life or property, PTI reported.
The quake in Nepal comes just days after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of Myanmar, sending tremors as far as Bangkok, where buildings swayed and residents briefly evacuated high-rises. While no major casualties were reported, the incident raised concerns over growing seismic instability in Southeast Asia.
Nepal, which lies in a seismically active zone along the boundary of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates, remains particularly vulnerable to earthquakes. The 2015 Gorkha earthquake, which killed nearly 9,000 people and injured tens of thousands, remains a stark reminder of the region라이브 바카라 susceptibility to powerful quakes.
