One militant was killed after the security forces engaged in a encounter with militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district on Monday morning.
The security officials told PTI that the forces launched a cordon and search operation in Krumhoora village of Zachaldara following information about the presence of militants in the area.
The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants opened fire at the security forces.
The officials told PTI that one militant was killed in retaliatory firing and some arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot.
The identity and group affiliation of the slain militant were yet to be ascertained.
