In a debate that lasted more than 13 hours, MPs representing the government and the opposition vehemently argued in favour or against the bill.
While the opposition called the bill `anti-Muslim', the government said it was for the welfare of ``marginalised Muslims'.
Home Minister Amit Shah clarified there was no `provision to appoint any non-Muslim member to Waqf. He also assured `there will be no interference in Muslims' religious matters'.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi give the debate a miss.
