A man who had a turbulent relationship with his wife ended up killing their 3-year-old son in Pune's Chandan Nagar area. The police discovered the body of the child after the mother filed a missing report and the father was found drunk at a lodge later when the police arrested him.
The deceased is identified as Himmat Madhav Tiketi who was the only son of Madhav Tiketi and his wife, Swaroopa.
Accrding to NDTV, the family originally hails from Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam.
The couple has had a history of quarreling over suspicion of infidelity and on Thursday, as per reports, a similar fight took place between the two.
The father left home with the son and reportedly spent the early part of the day sitting in a bar before leaving around 12:30 PM. From there, he proceeded to a supermarket and later ventured into a forested area near Chandan Nagar, reported NDTV.
The worried mother contacted the Chandan Nagar police station to inform that the two were missing.
After scanning the CCTV footage in the locality, the police reportedly found that around 2:30pm he was with his son for the last time and later around 5 pm he was seen at a store along purchasing clothes.
The police subsequently tracked Tiketi's phone location and found him in a lodge, in an intoxicated state.
Tiketi confessed killing his son after he regained consciousness.
Reportedly, the police located the crime scene in a forest nearby, where they found the boy's body with his throat slit.
"Last night the child's mother came to the police station and filed a missing report of her son. During investigation, it was found that the child's father was drunk in a lodge. We him into custody and arrested her. On further interrogation, he confessed to killing his son. The accused has been taken into custody and further investigation is underway. A case of murder has been registered as per the crime," a senior police official told NDTV.
The police has sent the body of the child for autopsy and further investigations are underway.
