Pushpa 2 Row: Allu Arjun's Father, Telugu Filmmakers Meet CM Revanth Reddy Amid Stampede Controversy

The meeting took place after Telangana CM Revanth Reddy recently took digs at celebrities and the government also refused permission to increase ticket rates amid a row over Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2.

Amid a spiraling row over the stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2, several bigwigs of the Telugu film industry, including producer and Allu Arjun's father, Allu Arvind, met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday.

The stampede killed a woman who was later identified as Revathi while her 8-year-old son is still in a critical health condition and is undergoing treatment.

Quoting Telangana Film Development Corporation (FDC) chairperson and popular producer Dil Raju, India Today reported that the meeting with Revanth Reddy was to foster "healthy relations" between the government and the industry.

As per reports, the list of celebrities included producers Allu Aravind, Suresh Daggubati, Sunil Narang, Supriya, Naga Vamshi, and Pushpa 2 producers Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar.

The meeting took place after Telangana CM Revanth Reddy recently made a jibe at celebrities and refused permission to increase ticket rates.

Moreover, the chief minister also slammed the Telugu film industry for focusing on Allu Arjun's arrest instead of thinking about the deceased woman Revathi and her critically ill son, Sri Tej, who is undergoing treatment.

Allu Arjun Gets Bail

Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station. Following the complaint lodged by the deceased woman's family, the actor was arrested.

However, a local court granted him bail on December 13 and he was released from jail the next day.

After the arrest, Allu Arjun was produced in a local court which remanded him to judicial custody of 14 days. However, his lawyers moved the HC and secured interim bail. Despite the Telangana High Court granting him bail, Arjun had to spend Friday night in Chanchalguda prison as the authorities had not received a copy of the bail order on time.

Hyderabad police questions Allu Arjun

Hyderabad Police on December 24 grilled Telugu Superstar Allu Arjun for over three hours in connection with the ongoing investigation of Sandhya theatre stampede on December 4 that killed a woman.

According to PTI, the actor was sent a notice to appear before police on December 23. The development came a day after police commissioner C V Anand released a video showing the sequence of events at the theatre.

Allu Arjun house attack

Six people, claiming to be members of Osmania University - Joint Action Committee (OU-JAC) were arrested after they allegedly damaged flower pots and threw tomatoes at Arjun's residence on Sunday evening.

A Hyderabad court on Monday granted bail to six people, who were arrested for allegedly vandalising the residence of Allu Arjun despite beefed up security deployment at the actor's house.

The incident also led to a fierce political slugfest with the BJP joining the BRS in attacking the Congress government, saying some of the attackers belonged to the Kodangal assembly constituency of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Woman killed in stampede

A stampede at Pushpa 2 screening in Hyderabad killed a woman on December 4 who was later identified as Revathi while her eight-year-old was also critically injured at Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2. The son remained in critical condition and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

According to the hospital, the boy is presently maintaining stable vital parameters and continues to be off oxygen and Ventilator, while his neurological status remains the same.

However, the husband of the deceased woman later said that he was willing to withdraw the case and he does not hold Allu Arjun responsible for the stampede or his wife's death.

Allu Arjun and the Pushpa 2 makers announced a compensation of rupees 2 crore to the family of the deceased woman. While rupees 1 crore was given by Allu Arjun, Mythri Movies and director Sukumar gave rupees 50 lakh each to the vcitim's family.
