A row has erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress after a distorted map of India was spotted on a Congress banner. The incident, which occurred in Belgavi, Karnataka, was criticised by the BJP, which accused the grand old party of trying to destabilise the country.

BJP took to X and posted photos of the Congress banners showing a distorted version of the Indian map. The maps were spotted during a Congress CWC meeting to mark the 100th anniversary of the Belgaum session presided over by Mahatma Gandhi.

Taking to X, BJP Karnataka slammed Congress and stated that INC has shown "utter disrespect for India's sovereignty by displaying a distorted map at their Belagavi event, portraying Kashmir as part of Pakistan. All this just to appease their vote bank. This is shameful!"

The state unit further called on Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to direct the removal of these distorted maps and take action accordingly.

"The fact that Congressmen distorted the map of India in the name of Gandhian India is truly treason. The banners put up in Belgaum are proof that the Congress is 'ready' to do any kind of dirty work for personal selfish gain and politics of appeasement," said BJP.

Along with this, the BJP also accused Congress of being involved with US investor George Soros as part of an effort to "destablise the country".

BJP's national unit also stepped in and took a jibe at Rahul Gandhi by saying - "RaGa's Mohabbat ki Dukaan is always open for China! They would break the nation. They've done it once. They'll do it again".

In response to the BJP's attacks, Congress leader Srinivas BV has accused the BJP of creating the controversy.

"They have a problem with this celebration on the completion of 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi taking over as the president of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and taking historic decisions to bring reform. They are spreading lies," said the Congress leader.
