Supreme Court Transfers Justice Yashwant Varma To Allahabad HC Amid Cash Pile Controversy

The Supreme Court Collegium has announced the transfer of Delhi High Court Judge Yashwant Varma back to Allahabad High Court. While a reason has not been clearly stated in the notice issued, the top court's move comes after a fire at the judge's house led to the recovery of a huge pile of cash.

"The Supreme Court Collegium in its meetings held on 20th and 24th March 2025 has recommended repatriation of Mr. Justice Yashwant Varma, Judge, High Court of Delhi, to the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad," reads the notice issued by the Supreme Court.

Earlier today, the Delhi High Court stated that all judicial work from Justice Yashwant Varma has been withdrawn with "immediate effect".

Kunal Kamra Row: 12 Shiv Sena Workers Get Bail After Held For Vandalising Mumbai Studio Where Kamra Performed

The 12 Shiv Sena workers get bail after they were arrested by the Mumbai Police on Monday for ransacking a studio in the city where comedian Kunal Kamra performed a controversial set calling Chief Minister Eknath Shinde a 'traitor'.

A court in Mumbai that granted bail to those 12 Shiv Sena workers have released them on a personal bond of Rs 15,000. 

The police had registered a case against 40 Shiv Sena workers for vandalising the Habitat studio in Khar area, where Kamra's show with the "gaddar" (traitor) jibe at Shinde was filmed, and a hotel where the studio is located.

Parliament Session: Both Houses Adjourned Amid Opposition Protests

As the Parliament Budget Session continues, both houses - Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha - have been adjourned amid protests from the opposition.

In the Lok Sabha, speaker Om Birla adjourned the house after asking the opposition to not display posters. Whereas, in the Rajya Sabha, the uproar over four percent reservation for minorities in Karnataka triggered the adjournment.

Following the arrest and jailing of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, tens of thousands of demonstrators continued their protests across Turkey. As protestors were met with tear gas and rubber bullets for a fifth consecutive night, Imamoglu's wife Dilek Kaya Imamoglu addressed the demonstrators outside City Hall and stated that President Erdogan "will be defeated."

Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu was arrested last week on the charges of corruption and aiding terrorist organisations. On Sunday, a Turkish court jailed the mayor pending trial for corruption.

Centre Announces 24% Raise In Salaries, Pensions Of MPs; Monthly Salary Becomes Rs 1.24 Lakh

The Central Government on Monday announced a 24-per cent hike in the salaries of members of Parliament with effect from April 1, 2023 on the basis of the Cost Inflation Index.

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs issued the notification which includes an increased daily allowances for sitting members along with pension and additional pension for every year of service in excess of five years for former members.
