The West Bengal government informed the High Court that police forces faced a crowd of nearly 10,000 people during last week라이브 바카라 violence in Murshidabad over the amended Waqf law.

According to an NDTV report, officers had to be rescued from the mob, which was armed with lethal weapons. Three people lost their lives in the ensuing violence.

A 34-page report submitted to the court outlines the scale of unrest in Jangipur, Murshidabad, revealing that 4,000–5,000 people attacked the police and even seized a senior officer라이브 바카라 service revolver.

The situation escalated when the crowd turned unruly, hurled abuses, and began pelting stones and bricks at the police.

A pitched battle followed, where the mob set upon the police with wooden staves, hasua (sickles) and iron rods.

The men snatched the Glock Pistol of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer which was loaded with 10 rounds of bullets, the report mentioned.

Situation Under Control

The state government on April 17 submitted a report before the Calcutta High Court and claimed that the law and order situation in violence-hit Murshidabad district was under control, PTI reported.

A division bench of Justices Soumen Sen and Raja Basu Chowdhury was hearing a petition moved by the Leader of the Opposition in the State Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, who claimed that bomb blasts took place during communal riots in the Muslim-majority district and prayed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) be handed over the probe into the violence.

The State government also submitted before the court that adequate steps have been taken by the police and administration to quell the violence in the district.

Anti-Waqf Violence In Bengal

The fresh bout of violence in South 24 Pargana's Bhangar erupted days after Murshidabad witnessed violent protests which killed three people while several others were injured. Over 150 people were later arrested in connection with the violence.

Several people fled the district and crossed the river to the adjoining district of Malda, seeking protection and shelter. Visuals from Murshidabad showed houses, shops and other property being burned down by large crowds.

Besides Murshidabad, a fresh violence broke out on Monday between the supporters of the opposition Indian Secular Front (ISF) and the police at Bhangar in South 24 Parganas district, leading to injuries to several people and torching of multiple police vehicles.

According to the officials, police have arrested two people so far while one police personnel has sustained injuries. As per media reports, anti-Waqf protesters clashed with the city police and set a van and other vehicles on fire.

Videos on social media showed how the roads were blocked by those from the minority community.

Videos also depicted police bikes being set on fire while a police bus was turned over with its front glass broken. The videos also showed many police officers present on the streets.
