Indian Premier League 2025 is nearing its resumption and teams are consistently in the hunt for replacement players amid uncertainty and injuries.

Late on Thursday, Gujarat Titans, Lucknow Super Giants and Punjab Kings announced new signings as replacements for their injured or unavailable players.

Gujarat Titans (GT) have picked Kusal Mendis as a replacement for Jos Buttler, who is set to leave for national duties on May 26, 2025, following GT's last league-stage game against Chennai Super Kings on May 25, 2025.

Mendis will join GT from May 26, 2025 for INR 75 Lakh .

Tearaway quick Mayank Yadav has once again injured himself and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have roped in New Zealand pacer, William O’Rourke as an injury replacement.

Yadav, who played just two games this season and was considerably slower in both, sustained a back injury and is ruled out for the remainder of the season.

O'Rourke will be his replacement at a reserve price of INR 3 crore.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) have picked Kyle Jamieson as a replacement for Lockie Ferguson, who is ruled out of the remainder of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 due to a hamstring injury. Ferguson had injured himself early in the season midway through PBKS clash against SRH which they eventually lost.

The lanky Jamieson will join PBKS for INR 2 Crore, the same price at which Ferguson was brought in at the auction. Jamieson can also be seen as a replacement of Jansen who is set to depart for national duties ahead of the play-offs.

While Mendis and O'Rourke have never played in the IPL, Jamieson has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2021.

Also, Mumbai Indians are reportedly in touch with Jonny Bairstow as a replacement of Will Jacks who will leave for national duties and miss the play-offs.

The plethora of replacements come in after IPL allowed franchises to sign temporary replacements in view of the unforeseen circumstances that led to the abrupt halt of the tournament. These players will not be available to retain for the next season unlike other replacements.

IPL 2025 resumes May 17 with the final now set to take place on June 3 instead of the May 25 as was originally scheduled.
