Abhishek Sharma's Ton Lights Up Hyderabad
SRH opening batter Abhishek Sharma lit up the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, April 12 after the southpaw scored his first IPL hundred against Punjab Kings. His score of 141 was also the highest individual score by an Indian batter in the tournament.
Speaking after his blistering innings, Abhishek celebrated with a note displaying the whole Hyderabad crowd with the words, "THIS ONE IS FOR ORANGE ARMY" written on it.
"I wrote it today only because usually I wake up and write something," Abhishek said. "So, today I got a random thought that if I do something today, that will be for the Orange Army. So, luckily, I thought today was my day. I wrote it today, and I think it was a good, lucky day," he said.
Glenn Phillips Exits GT Camp
Gujarat Titans was given a massive blow to their IPL title hopes when they lost experienced Kiwi all-rounder Glenn Phillips to injury. The 28-year-old has reportedly left the GT camp after suffering a groin injury.
Phillips becomes the second overseas player from the Titans camp to become unavailable. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada returned to his homeland due to a personal emergency earlier in the tournament.
Michael Hussey Hopeful Of CSK Playoff Spot
Chennai Super Kings are lying bottom of the IPL 2025 points table with one win in six matches. The Yellow Brigade had to see the back of their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad due to injury and now will be led by MS Dhoni for the remainder of the tournament.
CSK's batting coach Michael Hussey though was hopeful of his side making the IPL 2025 playoffs despite their poor run.
"We are certainly not putting the white flag up just yet," Hussey said after CSK's massive loss to KKR. "You only have to get in to scrape into that fourth place. And a big, long tournament like the IPL, it is about momentum.
"Now, certainly the momentum is not with us at the moment whatsoever. We haven't been playing good cricket consistently. We definitely acknowledge that, put our hands up and say that that is fact at the moment. But that's not to say things can't turn around and can't turn around quickly. So, that's what we're still hanging on to, and that's what we're working hard towards. And if we can change that momentum and get some confidence going and get a few wins on the board, the confidence will grow and you never know.
"We might be able to scrape into one of those last positions in the table come playoffs time. And it's a long way ahead, and we certainly need to change things around. But we still believe that we can do that, " he added.
