MI Cape Town Vs Paarl Royals Highlights, SA20: MICT Win By 33 Runs

Good evening and welcome to the live coverage of the SA20 2025. In today's game, MI Cape Town face Paarl Royals at the Newlands in Cape Town.

MI Cape Town started the tournament with a massive win over defending champions SunRisers Eastern Cape but then lost to Jo'burg Super Kings in the second game. Paarl Royals also earned a one-sided win over the defending champions in their only game so far.

MI Cape Town have won the toss and have opted to bat first at Newlands.

WICKET! Ryan Rickelton wants to go inside out against Bjorn Fortuin but he does not connect well and finds David Miller at mid off. Rickelton goes for 8.

Reeza Hendricks is the new man in.

50-run partnership up between van der Dussen and Hendricks. They are going well but perhaps MICT would need to up the ante a little more. A long batting line-up is pending for them. Paarl Royals would need to do more of the sames.

WICKET! Dayyaan Galiem gets Rassie van der Dussen. Slower one just outside off and Rassie drags it back on to his stumps. van der Dussen goes back for 43 off 33 but he has laid the foundation. MICT would want their middle and lower order to fire well now.

Reeza Hendricks has crossed fifty and is going strong but MICT need a final flourish. Colin Ingram tried to accelarate but got out and now George Linde is giving support to Hendricks.

Reeza Hendricks departs soon after half-century and MI Cape Town have failed to build on their solid foundation. They are consistently losing wickets and need that one quick cameo to get to a big score.

Not the grandest of finishes but MICT would still believe they have enough on the board. Delano Potgieter is out on the last ball of the innings for 29 from 18 balls. It seems like a slightly slow surface. So, perhaps MICT will not be too disappointed.

Paarl Royals need 173 runs to win.

Dayyan Galliem picks up three wickets for Paarl Royals while the top batter for MICT was Reeza Hendricks who scored 59.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius, the hero of the first match for Paarl Royals, is at it again. He has smashed Trent Boult, the best new ball bowler in the world, for a six in the very first over. Great start for both Royals and Pretorius. They need to keep going and accumulate a good total in the powerplay when the ball is still new.

MICT were in trouble after getting hit for 38 without loss in 3 overs and in comes Rabada to dismiss Root and bowl a maiden over. Brilliant from the pacer and he yet again shows why he is counted among the best in the world.

Rabada strikes again. His second consecutive wicket maiden over. And this is when all his other teammates are going for runs. Exceptional bowling. First he got rid of Root and now he sends back Pretorius. Rabada's figures at the end of powerplay read: 2-2-0-2!

Paarl Royals were 38 without loss in three overs. Since then, they have added just 31 runs in seven overs and lost half of their side. It is not looking good for them. The big guns are back in the pavillion. Sam Hain is in the middle trying to rescue the Royals.

George Linde finishes his spell with three wicekts and with that he also finishes any hopes that the Royals fans might have of making a comeback in this game. It has been total domination by MICT since the first three overs. Poor batting by Paarl Royals.

MI Cape Town beat Paarl Royals by 33 runs.

A dominating performance from MI Cape Town. It was not a smooth batting pitch but Reeza Hendricks slammed a brilliant half-century and he was aided well by Rassie van der Dussen's 43. Delano Potgieter's cameo in the end took MICT to 172/7. In reply, Paarl Royals raced to 38/0 in 3 overs before Kagiso Rabada bowled two consecutive maiden overs where he dismissed both the Royals openers. After that MICT spinners took over and despite a late 34 by Mujeeb ur Rahman and an unbeaten 22 from Kwena Maphaka, Royals lost the match by 33 runs. Rabada and Rashid Khan picked two wicekts each while George Linde scalped three batters.

MICT now move up to the top of the standings with two wins in three matches. Paarl Royals have been handed a heavy defeat after a good win in their opening game.
