Speaking exclusively on Star Sports Press Room with Punjab Kings for Race To Playoffs, he referred to Shreyas Iyer as "one of the best captains" under whom he has played.
Leading Punjab this year, Iyer spearheaded the Kolkata Knight Riders to their third IPL title last season and is now expected to guide the Kings into the playoffs for the first time since 2014.
Singh said of Iyer, "He is an experienced player who has won many domestic trophies, including last year라이브 바카라 IPL title. We have seen what he is capable of in ICC events. Whenever we are in doubt, he guides us, and most of his decisions have led to our victories. He backs his players and keeps us motivated, even if someone has a rough day. When the captain motivates you and supports you, it leads to positive outcomes on the field."
Singh was one of only two batters retained by the Punjab Kings before the mega auction and has been with the franchise for the past seven years. He praised the Kings' head coach Ricky Ponting as a world-class coach and recalled that the former Australia captain was in charge of Delhi Capitals when Singh scored a hundred against them during the 2023 edition. The 103-run innings off 65 balls had knocked Delhi out of the tournament that season.
"Ponting sir spoke to me afterwards. He told me I have a bright future ahead, and then this retention happened," said the right-handed opener.
When asked how he stays motivated, Singh shared, "As I mentioned, I have been here for seven years, but didn’t get a chance in the first four years. I used to get frustrated and would run hard for 7-8 kilometres. I spoke to Sachin Tendulkar, who advised me to be content with my current situation. He mentioned that many would want to take my position, even if they aren’t playing in the XI. Those words stuck with me and kept me going."
Singh expressed his desire to contribute to his team라이브 바카라 success, saying, "We are taking it one match at a time and aiming to play our best cricket. The results will follow."
On defending the lowest total in IPL history, Prabhsimran noted that he hadn't considered that outcome, but coach Ponting and captain Iyer emphasised on giving 100% effort. “There are no ifs and buts. They just wanted us to execute the best bowling possible,” Singh stated, acknowledging that everyone contributed well, leading to the favourable result.
He also touched upon Yuzvendra Chahal's influence on his batting, saying that the seasoned leg-spinner provided helpful tips regarding the pitch. "He advised me to maintain my strike rate and take a few deliveries at the start to gauge the conditions better. He is an excellent observer of the surface, and his advice has been beneficial."
Regarding the atmosphere in the Kings' dressing room, Singh said that everyone is relaxed. "There is a strong belief that if something needs to be done, it should be done properly. Even if someone struggles to perform, the team supports each other and encourages those in need. So, the vibes are always good in such an environment."
Following their four-wicket win over the Super Kings, Punjab are placed second in the points table with six wins in 10 matches. They will face the Lucknow Super Giants next at Dharamsala on Sunday, May 4.
