The Proteas batter has impressed cricket enthusiasts with his batting performances, with Durban Super Giants' captain dubbing him the next 'Virat Kohli'.
The top-order batter is also an able outfielder and after some good performances in the recently concluded SA20 league, the young Proteas batter turned up with the bat in the ongoing Pakistan ODI Tri-series.
Breetzke registered the highest score by a batter on One-Day International debut during the ongoing Tri-Nation series match against New Zealand in Lahore on Monday.
Breetzke, 26, scored 150 runs off 148 balls against New Zealand in match 2 of the ODI Tri-series played at Lahore.
Breetzke broke the record set by Desmond Haynes, who had scored 148 for the West Indies on debut against Australia in 1978.
The record for the highest score on ODI debut was previously held by Colin Ingram, who had registered 124 vs Zimbabwe in 2010.
Thanks to the 26-year-old's knock, Proteas registered 304 on the board for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs. He was well supported by Jamie Smith (41) and Wiaan Mulder (64).
Breetzke will be representing the Lucknow Super Giants in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He was signed by the LSG side for a base price of Rs. 75 lakh in the auction last year.
