The result officially eliminates SRH from the play-off race, though their chances were very slim to begin with considering their low points total and poor net run rate.

Still, the Sunrisers can take heart from a clinical and disciplined bowling display. After winning the toss, Pat Cummins sent Delhi in to bat and quickly had the Capitals in a big state of bother.

Cummins (3-19) had Karun Nair (0) caught behind off the very first ball, before following that up with two more scalps inside the powerplay, sending Faf du Plessis (three) and Abishek Porel (eight) packing in quick time.

The Capitals never quite recovered from those early blows, with KL Rahul (10), Axar Patel (six) and Vipraj Nigam (18) all being dismissed before the 12-over mark.

But Tristan Stubbs (41 not out) and Ashutosh Sharma (41) mounted a decent fightback, their 66-run partnership lifting Delhi to 133-7 after 20 overs.

But rain unfortunately played spoilsport during the innings break, meaning that Hyderabad never got a chance to reap the rewards of their fantastic bowling performance.

Delhi will consider themselves fortunate to have stolen a point as they remain in contention for the playoffs, sitting fifth in the table.
