Hetmyer, a left-handed middle-order batter, has been one of the Windies' most prolific players in recent years, and his exclusion comes as a bit of a surprise.

The southpaw featured in the Windies' 2-1 series win over a second-string England side last year, though he missed the subsequent white-ball series against Bangladesh due to illness.

He was replaced in that squad by Amir Jangoo, who made a century on debut in the third ODI at Basseterre as the Windies completed a 3-0 sweep.

Hetmyer is currently in action for the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.

Following the announcement of the squad, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy outlined the long-term importance of the upcoming fixtures.

"These matches form a critical component towards the 2027 World Cup,"바카라 웹사이트Sammy said,

"There are signs of the team building consistency following the series sweep against Bangladesh and the win over England late last year.

"We expect the conditions to be challenging, but we are creating a culture and mindset which emphasise playing the brand of cricket that is taking us closer to some of our overall objectives."

West Indies will tour Ireland for a three-match ODI series from 21-25 May, before visiting England for a white-ball tour, which includes three ODIs (played on May 29, June 1, June 3) and three T20Is, starting from June 6.

It will also mark the first limited-overs series for England since Harry Brook was named white-ball captain.

The Windies touring party is largely the same as the one that featured against England last year, with Shai Hope set to lead the side. Nicolas Pooran, who last played an ODI in 2023, has not been named in the squad.
