Despite a valiant effort from skipper Hayley Matthews, who battled injury and lack of stability at the other end to reach a well-deserved century, West Indies could not chase a target of 245.
Chasing the par target, Matthews was the lone fighter for her team, scoring an unbeaten 114 off 113 balls. The all-rounder nearly carried the Windies team home single-handedly in one of the most dramatic last-wicket stands, earning her the Player of the Match award despite the loss.
Batting first, Scotland Women showed a collective front, with Sarah Bryce라이브 바카라 fluent 55-run knock off 56 balls, along with Megan McColl라이브 바카라 45 off 44, putting runs on the board in the middle overs.
Matthews was the hero in the first innings as well, picking up four wickets in 10 overs. Scotland, who were 182/4 at one stage, were all out for 244 by the 45th over.
In the second innings, the Windies suffered an early setback after Qiana Joseph was dismissed cheaply by Darcey Carter. Matthews, at the other end, settled in, building a 113-run partnership with Zaida James, who scored 45.
However, wickets continued to tumble, with West Indies going from 120/2 to 194/6 as the Scottish duo of Maqsood and Abel struck in quick succession.
More trouble was waiting for West Indies, as Hayley Matthews – batting at 95 at the moment – was forced to retire hurt at the beginning of the 40th over. That gave Scotland the lead, but after the two quick wickets of Cherry-Ann Fraser and Afy Fletcher, Matthews was forced to return.
However, she lasted just one ball – which she sent to the boundary – before retiring hurt again, just one run short of a century. Not that she could get a lot of respite, as Karishma Ramharack라이브 바카라 quick wicket forced her to come back for the second time so that the West Indian innings could continue.
With the team requiring 42 runs with just one wicket in hand, Matthews and Aaliyah Alleyne had a terrific last-wicket stand, bringing down the deficit to just 12 runs before Katherine Fraser had the last laugh by taking Alleyne라이브 바카라 wicket.
This secured a historic win for Scotland, but it will be the 11-run loss for West Indies that will reverberate among the cricketing fans. They will not only have to make up for the loss but also worry about their captain라이브 바카라 fitness after the laboured knock today.
West Indies Women will take on Ireland Women, who lost against Pakistan today, on 11 April, while Scotland will hope to continue their winning run against Pakistan Women on the same date.
