The I-League side Inter Kashi were awarded three points and a +3 goal difference on Monday, after the side won a successful appeal against fellow opponent Namdhari FC. (More Football News)
It all stemmed from Namdhari FC fielding a suspended player during their match against Inter Kashi in the I-League match last month wherein Namdhari came out as 2-0 winners.
Following the game, Inter Kashi lodged a complaint against their opponents and now the result has been reversed.
"The AIFF Disciplinary Committee has decided to dock three points off Namdhari FC for fielding an ineligible player in Match 45 of the I-League 2024-25 against Inter Kashi, played on January 13, 2025, in accordance with Article 12.3.2 of the I-League 2024-25 Regulations," the AIFF said in a statement.
"The said match shall result in a forfeiture (0-3 loss) for Namdhari FC in accordance with Article 57 read with Article 26 of the AIFF Disciplinary Code."
Namdhari FC were docked three points and the result was awarded in Inter Kashi's favour.
This meant the I-League race is wide open. Namdhari currently occupy sixth spot in the I-League table with 23 points from 16 matches, courtesy six wins, five draws and five losses.
As for Inter Kashi, who were previously placed fourth prior to this result, have now climbed to second in the table with 28 points. They trail league leaders Churchill Brothers by one point and have a game in hand.
