The 39-year-old has not featured for Bayern since March 5, when he played in the 3-0 Champions League win over Bayer Leverkusen.

He sustained a calf strain in that game, and then suffered a setback in his recovery when he aggravated the issue upon a return to training.

However, Bayern confirmed on Monday that the veteran campaigner had completed a light session on the grass.

Bayern did not provide a timeline on Neuer's return.

The Bundesliga leaders lost 3-2 to VfL Bochum in the first game after Neuer's injury, but then beat Leverkusen 2-0 in the second leg of their Champions League tie before drawing 1-1 with Union Berlin and seeing off St. Pauli 3-2.

Neuer's replacement, Jonas Urbig, has conceded six goals (excluding own goals) in his five appearances since coming on in the first leg against Leverkusen.

The 21-year-old has made 10 saves, with a save percentage of 60, while he has slightly underperformed based on his 5.08 expected goals on target conceded.

Bayern are six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga with seven matches remaining. They face Augsburg on Friday.
