After some sustained pressure on the Mumbai box, Chennayain come close through Wilmar Jordan. The Colombian takes on Valpuia, turning the full-back inside out and shooting towards goal, but Rehenesh parries the ball.

Lukas Brambilla comes up against Jorge Ortiz in the Mumbai box, as the Spaniard holds off the attacker, who goes down too easily in hopes of getting a penalty. No dice.

Mumbai City break on the other end, and Karelis hits one from distance after spotting Nawaz off his line. Not close, though.

The Marina defence is fooled by the bounce of the ball, and Chhangte takes and runs with it down the right and hits it towards the far corner. Nawaz is completely beaten, but it hits the post and comes back. Unlucky.

Mumbai City are dominating attack the moment, and Bipin Singh cuts in from the right win and hits a venomous shot, but it's straight at the keeper and catching practice for Nawaz.

Irfans cuts in towards Jiteshwor Singh, and the midfielder hits a shot from the distance, but it flies wide of the top bar.

Another good chance for Chhangte. After a Chennaiyin free-kick came to nothing, the Islanders break forward with Niko Karelis, and the forward plays Chhangte through the right side. The winger shoots with his left, but seems to hit the top of the ball. As a result, the ball gets no power, and rolls to Nawaz's gloves.

Laldinpuia sets Chima Chukwu free in the box, but the Nigerian is brought down by Vikram Partap -- fairly, in referee's opinion. The Nigerian gives a faint shout for penalty, as the referee signals for water break.

Replays show that Vikram got NONE of the ball, and had VAR been there, it would have likely been given as a penalty. Lucky break for Mumbai City FC.

Other then the minute's silence and wearing black armbands before matches, the AIFF has also issued a statement of solidarity for the Pahalgam terror attack victims.

"On behalf of the entire Indian football fraternity, we express our deepest condolences on the tragic loss of lives in the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam," AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey said.

Chennaiyin break forward again, and Irfan is brought down the right hand side by Vikram, and the #6 gets all of the man and none of the ball, but this time, it's called back for a foul by the ref.

The resulting freekick leads to nothing, and Vignesh sohots from distance but it's far and wide.

Niko Karelis, and who else! After a corner routine was headed back by the Chennaiyin defence, Hitesh Sharma floats one in to the box, and Karelis is in the right place at the right time to put it to the back of the net.

Questions have to be asked of Nawz, who tried to rush in to punch the ball but completely missed it, giving Karelis the advantage.

With three minutes of added time signalled by the referee, Connor Shields puts the ball in the box after a melee in front of the Mumbai penalty area, and Chukwu gets his header in, but the ball goes wide.

The second half is underway at the Kalinga Stadium, with Karelis' late goal giving Mumbai City FC the lead.

Chhangte comes close yet again, just seconds after restart. Connor Shields gives away the ball in midfield to Jorge Ortiz, who plays pases to Chhante on the right side. The winger takes it on his left foot and shoots towards the top corner, but a deflection takes it inches wide.

Magical work from Lukas Brambilla. After a lighting counter attack from Chennaiyin, Chuwku plays Brambilla through, and the Brazillian goes past the keeper. With an empty net at his mercy, Brambilla shoots, but Mehtab Singh puts in a terrific goalline clearance.

Despite some fantastic footwork, Brambilla's finishing must be questioned as his shot found the solitary defender standing in front of an empty goal.

After the Mumbai defence cleared the ball only halfway through, Connor Shields takes the ball and runs down the right side and delivers a perfect cross towards the middle. It comes to Wilmar Jordan, and the Colombian goes for the acrobatic with a scissor kick, but it goes wide.

Mumbai City try to hit on the counter again after faint penalty attempts by Chennaiyin FC for a handball. Ortiz runs with the ball and plays Chhangte on the right. The skiiper passes it back to Ortiz, who hits it towards the corner but misses by inches.

Meanwhile, replays show that Bipin Singh's hand did change the direction of the ball in the box, and it certainly wasn't in a natural position. Mumbai get away with another.

Terrific footwork from Ortiz, who takes on his marker and plays Karelis through on goal down the left side. The Greek strikes goes for goal, but it's wide. Luckily, an onrushing Chhangte gets on the other end of the ball and slides it in to an empty net to double Mumbai's lead.

Mumbai City continue their relentless attack on the Chennaiyin FC. First, Vikram Pratap was brought down in the box by Hnamte, and the MCFC player can't believe it when referee waves play on.

Chhangte comes close again, with his ball in the box being just about cut out by Laldinuia, although the centre-back almost handled the ball in the process.

A captain's performace from Chhangte tonight! A fantastic, outside the boot flick from Ortiz puts Chhangte through down the right, and the winger cuts in though to his left foot and finds the bottom corner with a sublime finish.
