After all the hard work in the first half, Preston are staring down the barrel, 15 minutes into the second.

If there was any doubt about Aston Villa progressing to the Wembley Stadium, it is dispelled now. Jacob Ramsey takes off after receiving a free-kick and zooms into the Preston box before slotting it in in the 71st minute. The visitors cap off a superb 30 minutes or so with their third goal, one that effectively shuts out a comeback from the hosts.

And that's that. The referee blows the full-time whistle, and Aston Villa have emerged victors by a handsome 3-0 margin over the hosts.
