MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal: American Surfer Caroline Marks Clinches Second Title

American surfer Caroline Marks showcased her talent in solid four-to-six-foot surf at Supertubos, claiming her second MEO Rip Curl Pro Portugal title in Peniche. Brazilian surfer Italo Ferreira maintained his lead in the men's 2025 World Surf League by finishing in second place. Marks advanced impressively through the women's competition, defeating Australian Isabella Nichols in the Round of 16 and France's Johanne Defay in the quarter-finals. She then secured her spot in the final by narrowly beating Australia's Molly Picklum with a score of 8.53 to 7.50. In the semi-finals, Gabriela Bryan from the U.S. overcame Canada's Erin Brooks in a gripping matchup. Wave selection proved crucial in the dynamic lineup at Supertubos. Marks, a 2019 champion, and first-time finalist Bryan both scored mid-range points early in the final on Sunday. However, they later made some mistakes by choosing waves that didn’t provide opportunities to improve their scores.
