The COTA track in Austin, designed in 2013, features a challenging circuit featuring 20 turns and 3.41 miles long. The GearUp will take place on Thursday, 27 March, while the actual race starts in Texas the next day, which will decide the Q2 positions.

The bikers will then compete for a qualifying top spot on 29 March, with a Tissot Sprint scheduled for the afternoon. Finally, on Sunday, 30 March, the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas will kick off, thus bringing the event to an end.

Six-time world champion Marc Marquez will be the clear favourite going into the event, having secured seven wins already, way ahead of second-placed Spanish colleague Alex Rins (two wins).

Other strong participants will be Italian racers Marco Bezzecchi and Francesco Bagnaia, as well as Spaniard Alex Marquez.
