Organised by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the 2025 edition of the National Games officially began with an opening ceremony at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Dehradun on January 28. More than 10,000 athletes, coaches and officials from different states, Union Territories and institutions competed, and Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) came out on top.
SSCB finished with 68 gold, 26 silver and 27 bronze medals, ahead of the nearest competitor Maharashtra, who tallied 54 gold, 71 silver and 73 bronze. Haryana stood third with 48 gold, 47 silver and 58 bronze.
As for the closing ceremony, Union home minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest. Apart from Shah, sports minister Mansukh Mandaviya, Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Meghalaya CM Conrad Kongkal Sangma, Union minister of state for road and transport Ajay Tamta, Uttarakhand sports minister Rekha Arya, Nainital MP Ajay Bhatt, and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha will be among those present.
