The case unfolds just days after Jakob, 24, cemented his dominance on the track by securing gold medals in both the 1,500 meters and 3,000 meters at the World Indoor Championships in China.

What Are The Allegations Against Gjert Ingebrigtsen?

Gjert is accused of subjecting Jakob and his younger sister to a prolonged period of domestic abuse spanning 14 years. If found guilty, he could face a prison sentence of up to six years.

In court, the defense played footage from the television documentary Team Ingebrigtsen, arguing that if abuse had occurred, it would have been documented by the filmmakers.

Gjert라이브 바카라 defense team has argued that allegations of domestic abuse lack evidence, citing extensive media coverage of the family over the years.

“This claim of domestic abuse is unique because there were productions being made with the family in training camps, during holidays, and in everyday life. If there had been systematic abuse, it would have been discovered,” said Gjert라이브 바카라 defense attorney, Heidi Reisvang, in a statement to the Associated Press.

Reisvang also urged the court to distinguish between Gjert라이브 바카라 roles as a coach and a father. “It is clear that someone training to be a world champion has a different upbringing than most people, and the rules will be strict when related to eating, sleeping, and training,” she added.

Gjert rose to prominence in Norway in 2016 through the reality series Team Ingebrigtsen, where he was seen coaching his three sons, Jakob, Filip, and Henrik, in their track and field careers. The series ran until 2021, but by 2022, the brothers had parted ways with their father as a coach. The following year, they co-wrote a column in the Norwegian newspaper VG, accusing Gjert of physical violence and intimidation.

The accusations led to a police investigation and, ultimately, formal charges related to Gjert라이브 바카라 treatment of Jakob and his younger sister. On Monday, the prosecution read out the charges, which cite violations of sections 219 and 282 of the Norwegian Penal Code, covering maltreatment in close relationships. Gjert pleaded “not guilty.”

Despite the split with his sons, Gjert has continued coaching and now trains Narve Gilje Nordas, Jakob라이브 바카라 Norwegian rival in the 1,500 meters. Nordas is expected to testify in support of Gjert라이브 바카라 defense.

Jakob was absent from the first day of the trial but appeared in court on Tuesday after traveling 5,000 miles from Nanjing, China, where he competed at the World Indoor Championships.

What Is Jakob Ingebrigtsen Saying?

Jakob has spoken openly about the struggles he faced under his father and former coach, describing a childhood marked by fear and control. Taking the witness stand on Tuesday, the double Olympic champion detailed the emotional toll of his upbringing.

"My upbringing was closely tied to fear. I've been aware of a fear-based culture for a long time. As a teenager, it was a concept I really identified with because I felt I had no free will or say in anything," he told the court.

He further described an environment where "everything was controlled and decided" for him, adding that there was "an enormous amount of manipulation."

Jakob, who won gold in the 5,000 meters at the Paris Games and the 1,500 meters in Tokyo, is a key witness in the trial against his father, who has denied all allegations of domestic abuse.

The case also includes allegations from Jakob's younger sister, Ingrid, who testified that their father, Gjert, struck her in the face as a child for forgetting her heart-rate monitor.

Ingrid, now 18, told the court in Sandnes, Norway, that the incident took place in 2018 or 2019 while she was driving to training with her father. She recalled Gjert yelling at her, calling her “incompetent” and “stupid.”

“I told him to shut up because it didn’t stop,” she said. “That라이브 바카라 when he hit me in the face. It was fast, it was hard, and it hurt.”

Gjert Ingebrigtsen Trial: Background

Jakob, 24, and his brothers Filip, 31, and Henrik, 34, publicly accused their father and former coach, Gjert Ingebrigtsen, of violent behavior in October 2023. In a statement, they described him as “very aggressive and controlling” and admitted they still felt “discomfort and fear” over his actions.

Gjert, who coached his sons until 2022, denied the allegations through his lawyer, calling them “baseless” and insisting he had “never used violence against his children.”

In April, Gjert was charged with one count of domestic abuse, though five other charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence, and another was dismissed due to time constraints. A further charge was later added.

The trial is scheduled to run until May 16.
