Andretta, a village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, has long been home to a vibrant artist community, including renowned figures like Sardar Gurcharan Singh, Shoba Singh and B.C. Sanyal. Since the 1920's, it has attracted students, artists, and enthusiasts, many of whom chose to settle down in the village and take tradition of Andretta pottery and its artistic culture forward
The Exhibition A path to Andretta, curated by Sarover Zaidi and Akanksha Maglani, creates a discourse about Craftsmanship as a legitimate form of art. The exhibition showcases both artistic experiments with clay and pottery, along with painting, music as well as regular tableware and decor, crafted by the participant artists.
On display are works by Mansimran Singh, Mary Singh, Gauri Sharma, Sheila Sedgwick, Lipoklemla Ao, Shubham Sankhyan, Manish Arora, Yamini J. Paul, Bianca Bellantyne, Suchika Rathode and Arjun Sen
The exhibition runs from 20 February to 7 March 2025 at the Art Gallery, Kamaladevi Complex, India International Centre, organised by the India International Centre.
