James Cameron's Avatar 3 which is titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, made its debut with its first trailer during CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 3. The third instalment is all set to hit the screens on December 19, 2025.
As per a report in Variety, CinemaCon attendees got the opportunity to watch Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer with 3D glasses. The trailer is yet to be released for the general public.
The first footage of Avatar 3 introduced two new clans- the Ash people and the Wind traders.
Zoe Saldaña, who was present at the CinemaCon teased with the never-seen-before footage of the upcoming instalment. She said, "Fire and Ash expands the beautiful world of Pandora and introduces two new clans, the Wind Traders and the Ash People''.
The video footage begins on Pandora where audiences are introduced to two new Na’vi clans — the Wind Traders, who soar in the sky in gigantic balloon-like airships and the Fire People, arrive by riding Ikran flying creatures. As the battle begins in the skies, one Na’vi is shot and killed.
“We can not live like this, baby” Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) tells Neytiri (Saldaña). “We can not live with this hate.”
Avatar follows the family of Jake Sully and Neytiri on Pandora. Avatar 3 picks up directly after the events of the second part The Way of Water, which shows the conflict between the the Na’vi and the villainous Resources Development Administration (RDA).
Cameron, who couldn't attend the event, appeared in a pre-recorded video and said, “The Sully family are really put through the wringer on this one as they face not only the human invaders but new adversaries, the Ash People.”
“So sorry I can’t be there, but I’m in New Zealand, finishing up Avatar: Fire and Ash, which I think we can all agree is a good use of my time, considering this sucker is coming at us like a freight train on Dec. 19,” he said. “I hope this film can provide a shot in the arm for theater owners, as we’re still struggling after the one-two punch of the pandemic and streaming.”
Avatar 3 Cast
Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña are reprising their roles as Jake Sully and Neytiri in Avatar 3. Other cast members include Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Britain Dalton, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, Jack Champion, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao and Edie Falco, among others. Oona Chaplin, who will play the leader of the Ash People, is the new cast member. David Thewlis is also the new addition.
Avatar 3 Release Date
Avatar: Fire and Ash is set to hit the screens on December 19, 2025, followed by Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, which are scheduled to release in 2029 and 2031.
Avatar that released in 2009, is the top-grossing film of all time. The second part of Avatar, which was released in 2022, became the third highest-grossing film of all time.
