US President Donald Trump on Thursday asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to halt the attacks carried out in Ukraine. Russia had earlier launched a missile and drone strike on Kyiv and other parts of the nation killing at least 12 people. The attack, which marks as the deadliest attack on Kyiv since July last year, drew condemnation from the US president who requested the Russian leader to “STOP!”.
Marking his discontent in a post on his Truth social platform, he stated that, “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying.”
Trump has allegedly claimed that a noteworthy amount of progress has been achieved in the ongoing peace negotiations. He also credited the Kremlin with being open to stopping the war and not annexing the entire country.
Trump has previously targeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accusing him of prolonging the war by not ceding Crimea. Zelenskyy had asserted that ceding Crimea would be against the Ukrainian constitution.
A high level meeting had also taken place in Paris between Ukraine, US and European officials that proposed for Russia to keep the occupied territory in exchange for stopping the war.
