Robert De Niro To Receive Cannes Honorary Palme D'Or At 78th Edition Of The Festival

Robert De Niro will receive the Honorary Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony of the 78th edition of Cannes film festival, which starts on May 13.

Actor-producer Robert De Niro, will be conferred with the prestigious Palme d'Or at Cannes 2025. He will receive the Honorary Palme d’Or at the opening ceremony of the 78th edition of the festival, as per a report in Variety.

He will be honoured with the Palme d’Or on May 13.

Next day, Niro will attend a special masterclass on the stage of the Debussy Theater, where he is said to talk about his career spanning more than five decades.

Robert De Niro, in a statement, shared, “I have such close feelings for Festival de Cannes...especially now when there라이브 바카라 so much in the world pulling us apart, Cannes brings us together — storytellers, filmmakers, fans, and friends'' and added, ''It라이브 바카라 like coming home.''

Robert De Niro's long history with Cannes Film Festival

The two-time Oscar winner has a long association with Cannes. Niro served as President of the Cannes jury in 2011. The actor was last seen at Cannes in 2023, for Martin Scorsese라이브 바카라 Killers of the Flower Moon.

In 1976, he participated in two films which were the festival's official selection: Bernardo Bertolucci's 1900 and Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver, which received the Palme d'Or. In 1983, he took part in the festival with Scorsese's The King of Comedy, and a year later for Sergio Leone's Once Upon a Time in America.

In 1986, Niro returned with Roland Joffe's The Mission, which was also the Palme d'Or winner.

Cannes 2025 Details

This year, French actor Juliette Binoche will serve as the jury president, which marks a second time in Cannes history that the jury will be headed by a woman for two consecutive years. The last jury president was Barbie director, Greta Gerwig.

The festival will take place from May 13 to 24, 2025, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. The official selection will be announced on April 10, 2025, in Paris.
