Nani starrer Hit: The Third Case and Suriya's film Retro, clashed at the box office on Thursday, May 1. Both the films had a solid opening. On Day 2, the collections of Hit 3 and Retro dropped.
Hit 3 Box Office Collection Day 2
According to the Sacnilk, Hit 3 collected Rs 21 crore on Day 1 and Rs 10 crore (early estimates) on Day 2. The total box office collection of Hit 3 stands at Rs 31 crore.
It had overall 52.27% Telugu occupancy on Friday, with maximum occupancy of 66.05% during the night shows and minimum footfall of
34% in the morning shows.
About Hit 3
Nani plays menacing IPS officer, Arjun Sarkaar, who indulges in a blood bath. He is transferred from Visakhapatnam to Jammu and Kashmir to solve a case, and unravels a twisted and gritty tale of violence and cruelty he never expected.
Hit 3 also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Adil Pala, Rao Ramesh, Brahmaji and Maganti Srinath.
It is written and directed by Dr. Sailesh Kolanu.
Retro Box Office Collection Day 2
Suriya starrer also failed to keep the momentum on Day 2. After collecting Rs 19.25 crore on Day 1, the movie saw a huge 61% drop in collections on the second day of its release. Retro earned Rs 7.50 crore (early estimates), on Friday, which takes the total collection to Rs 26.75 crore.
Suriya is not new to this pattern. His previous release, Kanguva collected Rs 9.5 crore on Day 2, after an impressive collection of Rs 24 crore on Day 1.
Retro saw 40.23% Tamil occupancy on Friday. Night shows had the maximum occupancy of 53.22% and morning shows recorded minimum footfall of 23.91%.
About Retro
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the gangster drama also stars Pooja Hegde. It revolves around a gangster (Suriya) who swears to give up on violence and leave his past behind but has to break the vow to defeat his enemies and protect his estranged wife (Pooja Hegde).
Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Prashanth and Sujith Shanker are also part of the cast.
