Reacting to the devastating terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22 which killed 26 people, US Vice President JD Vance on Thursday expressed hopes that India would respond to Pakistan in a way that would avoid a 'broader regional conflict' while Pakistan, 'to the extent they're responsible' should also cooperate with India in hunting down the perpetrators.

The US Vice President was on a India tour with his family when the deadly attack took place.

"Our hope here is that India responds to this terrorist attack in a way that doesn't lead to a broader regional conflict. And we hope, frankly, that Pakistan, to the extent that they're responsible, cooperates with India to make sure that the terrorists sometimes operating in their territory are hunted down and dealt with", Vance said in an interview with Fox News.

Earlier, Vance dialed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convey his deepest condolences on the deaths where he strongly condemned the terror attack and reiterated that the US stands with the people of India and is ready to provide all assistance in the joint fight against terrorism, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in a post on X.

The US Vice President also wrote on X, "Usha and I extend our condolences to the victims of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Over the past few days, we have been overcome with the beauty of this country and its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn this horrific attack."

Marco Rubio Dials Jaishankar, Shehbaz Sharif

The United States on Wednesday intervened and encouraged both New Delhi and Islamabad to de-escalate tensions while asserting the need for Pakistan to condemn the deadly attack.

During a call with Jaishankar, US Secretary Of State Marco Rubio voiced solidarity with New Delhi and expressed his sorrow for the lives lost in the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

On Wednesday, Rubio held conversations with External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar and Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and reaffirmed the United States' commitment to cooperate with India against terrorism and encouraged both India and Pakistan to de-escalate tensions and maintain peace and security in South Asia, as per a statement issued by State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce.

In his conversation with Pak PM Shehbaz Sharif, Rubio asserted the need to condemn the terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam and urged Pakistani officials’ cooperation in investigating "this unconscionable attack."

"Both leaders reaffirmed their continued commitment to holding terrorists accountable for their heinous acts of violence. The Secretary urged Pakistani officials' cooperation in investigating this unconscionable attack," said Bruce, as per PTI.

US Stands Strong With India: State Department

Underlining that Rubio urges India and Pakistan to work towards a responsible resolution that maintains long-term peace and regional stability, the US State Department asserted that the United States stands strong with India against terrorism and Prime Minister Narendra Modi “has our full support”.

Rubio “encouraged both countries to work toward a …responsible resolution that maintains long-term peace and regional stability in South Asia. We continue to be in touch with the governments of both countries, as I mentioned, at multiple levels,” Bruce added.

State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said at a press briefing Thursday that Washington is “monitoring closely” the situation between India and Pakistan amid rising tensions.

“This government is in constant communication. We are asking for a responsible resolution from both parties. And beyond that, there라이브 바카라 nothing I can give you, any other details,” she said.
