L2: Empuraan, featuring Malayalam star Mohanlal, hit theatres on Thursday (March 27). The sequel to the 2019 action-thriller, Lucifer, has been directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The film surpassed the Rs 100 crore mark at the worldwide box office within two days of its release, making it the fastest Malayalam movie to achieve the milestone.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, it has become the 10th Malayalam movie to earn a gross of over Rs 100 crore at the global box office.
L2: Empuraan has overtaken Prithviraj starrer Aadujeevitham—The Goat Life, which took nine days to hit the milestone.
The makers, on Friday night, shared that Empuraan has surpassed Rs 100 crore in less than 48 hours.

On its first Friday, the Mohanlal starrer saw a decline of 44.05% from Day 1. It collected Rs 11.75 crore nett at the domestic market, as per early estimates. The Malayalam version earned Rs 10.75 crore, followed by Kannada languages earning Rs 0.03 crore, Telugu version Rs 0.27 crore Tamil Rs 0.3 crore and Hindi Rs 0.4 crore, respectively.
The total box office collection of Empuraan in two days stands at Rs 32.75 crore.
L2: Empuraan had an overall 46.02% Malayalam occupancy on Friday. Night shows registered a strong 57.69% percent occupancy. The afternoon shows recorded an occupancy of 40.89% percent. The evening screenings followed with 48.42% percent occupancy, while the morning shows saw the lowest occupancy of 37.09% percent.
L2: Empuraan, is produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan, and Subaskaran under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions.
Apart from Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran also stars in a key role. Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Sachin Khedekar, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Indrajith Sukumaran play pivotal parts in the film.
