Actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran-directorial, L2: Empuraan, was released in theatres on Thursday, March 27. The film starring Mohanlal, in the lead role, earned Rs 21 crore net in India on Day 1, but the collections dropped on Day 2. On Day 3 and Day 4, it saw a slight growth, but on Day 5, the earnings dropped further. On Day 6, Empuraan, earned a single-digit number.

As per a report in Sacnilk, the film minted only Rs 9 crore net at the domestic market, taking the total box office collections to Rs 79.15 crore. With this, Empuraan has also surpassed the lifetime collection of its first instalment, Lucifer, which reportedly earned Rs 65 crore net in 2019.

On Tuesday, Empuraan had an overall 51.35% Malayalam occupancy.

Meanwhile, Empuraan has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark globally in just five days. It is now approaching towards Rs 250 crore.

Here's the day-wise breakdown of Empuraan net collection in India.

Day 1 (1st Thursday)- Rs 21 crore [Mal: 18.6 Cr ; Ka: 0.05; Te: 1.15; Ta: 0.7; Hi: 0.5]-

Day 2 (1st Friday)- Rs 11.1 crore [Mal: 10.15 Cr ; Ka: 0.03; Te: 0.25; Ta: 0.27; Hi: 0.4]-47.14%

Day 3 (1st Saturday)- Rs 13.25 crore [Mal: 12.15 Cr ; Ka: 0.03; Te: 0.27; Ta: 0.4; Hi: 0.4]19.37%

Day 4 (1st Sunday)- Rs 13.65 crore [Mal: 12.6 Cr ; Ka: 0.03; Te: 0.3; Ta: 0.47; Hi: 0.25]3.02%

Day 5 (1st Monday)- Rs 11.15 crore [Mal: 10.4 Cr ; Ka: 0.03; Te: 0.17; Ta: 0.35; Hi: 0.2]-18.32%

Day 6 (1st Tuesday)- Rs 9.00 crore * early estimates-

Total- Rs 79.15 crore

Empuraan is competing with Salman Khan라이브 바카라 Sikandar, which was released on Eid. On Tuesday, the later raked in Rs 19.5 crore, taking the total domestic earnings to Rs 74.5 crore.

Apart from Mohanlal and Prithviraj, L2: Empuraan also stars Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Sachin Khedekar, Abhimanyu Singh, Jerome Flynn, Eriq Ebouaney, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Indrajith Sukumaran, in pivotal roles.

It has been produced by Antony Perumbavoor, Gokulam Gopalan and Subaskaran under the banners of Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies and Lyca Productions. 

Meanwhile, the re-edited version of Empuraan is out in theatres after 24 cuts. The changes were made after the film got embroiled in a controversy for its depiction of right-wing politics and showing scenes referring to the 2002 Gujarat riots.

Reportedly, two minutes and eight seconds of footage have been deleted after re-censoring.
