Following the Bharatiya Janata Party's massive victory in the Delhi Elections 2025, the party is now working towards finalising its pick for the post of Chief Minister. As per the latest reports, BJP insiders have stated that the winning party is likely to pick a female candidate for the top post.
As per a report by India Today, the Chief Minister will be among the newly elected legislators. Furthermore, the deputy chief minister from a socially-representative is ensure a diverse leadership is present in the national capital.
Who Are The Women In Line To Become CM?
While the BJP is yet to reveal its pick for CM, a total of four female candidates won in the assembly elections. These are -
Rekha Gupta who won the Shalimar Bagh seat with 68,200 votes, defeating AAP's Bandana Kumari.
Shikha Roy won the Greater Kailash seat with 49,594 votes, defeating AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj.
Poonam Sharma secured the Wazirpur seat with a total of 54,721 votes.
Neelam Pehalwan won the Najafgarh seat with 1,01,708 votes, defeating AAP's Tarun Kumar.
The Delhi Elections 2025 marked the BJP's return to power in the national capital after 27 years. This victory was further solidified due to Parvesh Verma's victory in the New Delhi constituency, who defeated former CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal.
BJP won a total of 48 seats in the Delhi assembly elections, ousting Aam Aadmi Party after 10 years in the capital. The AAP, which won 62 seats in the previous elections, went down to 22 seats this time around.
