US President Donald Trump reiterated his administration's imposition of tariffs on China, Canada, and Mexico during his congressional address on Tuesday. In response to this, China has retaliated by imposing its own tariffs on various US imports and industrial exports.
Speaking at a regular briefing on Tuesday, Lin Jian, the spokesperson for China라이브 바카라 Foreign Ministry, said: “China will fight till the end if the US insists on waging a tariff war, trade war or any other kind of war.”
“I want to reiterate that the Chinese people have never feared evil or ghosts, nor have we ever bowed to hegemony or bullying. Pressure, coercion and threats are not the right ways to engage with China. Trying to exert maximum pressure on China is a miscalculation and a mistake,” he added.
The State Council Tariff Commission of China announced that 15 percent tariffs have been imposed on US imports such as chicken, wheat, corn and cotton, and an additional 10 percent has been imposed on “sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products."
On Tuesday, China's Ministry of Commerce announced that along with tariffs, 15 American companies will be added to the export control list, which will bar Chinese companies from exporting dual-use equipment.
As per a CNN report, Alfredo Montufar-Helu, head of the China Center for the Conference Board said that Beijing's retaliatory tariffs come after a "restrained, targeted approach aimed at causing pain to those industries that matter the most to the supporters of the Trump administration."
Furthermore, China has also blocked lumber imports from the United States, has suspended the permits of three US companies to export soybeans and an anti-dumping investigation into imports of fiber optic products.
